Sanoora Mata Mandir VC lifts Volleyball trophy

SAMBA, Dec 12: Sanoora Mata Mandir Volleyball Club lifted the title trophy defeating Hiranagar Club by 2-0 sets, organized by Mission First Brigade for the border village of Samba and Kathua to celebrate Swarnim Vijay Varsh, here today.
About 12 teams from the border villages of Samba and Kathua districts participated in the championship which started on December 9 and culminated today.
The championship was organised by the Army at the border village Jarrain in Samba district. In a thrilling match, the team of Sanoora Mata Mandir Club won the final match by 2-0 set. In the final match, the chief guest, Commander of Mission First Brigade honoured the winning team with a gold medal as well as trophy, while the runner up team was awarded with silver medal along with a trophy.
Sarpanch Rajpura, Suresh Basotra while speaking on the occasion said that the local youth have great enthusiasm and calibre for the game of volleyball and such competitions will be organized regularly to boost the energy of the youth in a positive direction.
He appealed to the young players to take advantage of the schemes launched by the Government in sports.
The motive of the tournament was to inculcate the values of sportsmanship among the local youth and to promote sports activities in the region.
BDC Chairman Radhey Krishan, DDC Member Asha Rani, Sarpanch Vinay Sharma, Naib Sarpanch Parshottam Sharma and Ravinder Singh along with army officers were present during the event.
