LEH, Apr 27: Sana Dua, the first Runner up in Femina Miss India 2017 along with DEO, Leh Avny Lavasa, GO Alkesh Kumar Sharma and SSP, Leh Sargun Shukla flagged off the Mini Marathon from NDS Stadium, here today.
The ‘Run to Vote’ on May 6 with the message ‘Leh Runs, Leh Votes’ culminated at Leh Main Bazaar amidst huge crowd.
Sana Dua was the chief guest on the occasion and she is in Leh as the Brand Ambassador of Jammu and Kashmir Election Authority to appeal the voters in Leh district to exercise their voting right on May 6 for the Lok Sabha elections.
This initiative is taken by DEO, Leh Avny Lavsa and organised by Nodal Officer SVEEP, Leh Tashi Dolma and the entire SVEEP team with the objective to promote voter awareness and educate the target population about EVM and VVPAT.
All the district officers, religious and social heads, teaching fraternity and students participated in the mini marathon.
Speaking on the occasion, Sana Dua said that she is delighted to see the high spirit and enthusiasm among the people in Leh for the forth coming Lok Sabha election. She said that nowhere else in the state she has seen such impressive celebration of the country’s grand festival of LS Elections.
Addressing the gathering, DEO, Leh Avny Lavasa expressed gratefulness to Sana Dua to be a part of the mini marathon planned and organised on a short notice. She made a strong appeal to all the electorates of Leh district to come out and cast their votes ethically on May 6.
Stressing on ethical voting, she urged upon the general public not to come under any influence of money, liquor or muscle power and use their vote mindfully.
Other highlights of the celebration were the stalls set up in Leh market to familarize scenario of a polling station and inside of polling booth, demonstration and hands-on training of EVM and VVPAT, nukkad natak on election awareness, signature campaign, flash mob and pop up musical event by students of Naropa Fellowship.
