Samba Police organizes Marathon

SAMBA, Oct 12: With an aim to strengthen Police–Public relations and to create awareness among the masses, District Police Samba organized Marathon against Drug Abuse, here today.
Over 400 civilians including students and Police Personnel of District Samba participated in this event.
Dr Koshal Sharma, Additional SP Samba and Bansi Lal Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Samba flagged off the Marathon from Kehli Mandi Ground Samba in wee hours today.
The Marathon culminated back at the venue after passing through Kristu Jyoti School, Glodhar Mandir, Rakh Amb Talli Chowk, Railway Bridge, Madhera and Raipur Chowk.
Razia Bano, D/o Sher Ali, student of New Light Hr Sec School Balore, Samba stood 1st, Sonia Gangral D/o Balwant Singh, student of New Light Hr Sec School Balore, Samba stood 2nd and Deep Shikha D/o Ram Dass, student of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji High School, Ramgarh stood 3rd in female category, while Anil Singh of Shishu Niketan, Hr. Sec. School Samba stood 1st in male category, while Arjun Kumar, student of New Light Hr. Sec. School Balore, Samba and Ajay Kumar of Government High Secondary School, Sumb claimed second and third place respectively.
Prizes /Certificates/trophies were also given to the Police Personnel of District Samba namely Constable Sarabjeet Singh Slathia No. 437/IRP 13th Bn., SPO Dheeraj Singh No. 280/DS and SPO Diwan Singh No. 327/DS who secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd Positions respectively.
Israr Khan IPS, SSP Samba was the chief guest while Mubarak Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Samba was the special guest on the occasion who distributed prizes to the winners.
Speaking on the occasion SSP Samba reiterated that the police organization would continue its efforts to inspire the youth of the State towards sports and in coming days would organize Quiz Competition under junior category at M. V. International School, Vijaypur.
DDC Samba while addressing the students advised to keep themselves away from the evils of society and work hard by keeping themselves physically and mentally fit. He also appreciated the role of Police for organizing this event.
Jarpal Singh, District Sports Officer, Samba and Renuka Raina, Assistant Director, Narcotics & Drug Control Department of District Samba also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the usefulness of this event.
