SAMBA, Feb 14: Samba District Chess Championship concluded today at Shishu Niketan High School, here.
A total of 66 players from different areas of Samba district participated in the tournament.
Chairman Municipal Committee Samba, Pawan Kohli was the chief guest in the closing function who distributed the prizes among the winners.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were ward member Vinod Singh, Jangbir Singh Principal of the school and also Patron of Samba District Chess Association, Rakesh Sharma, Deeraj Guleria, Ranbir Singh, Atul Kumar Gupta, President AJKCA and Kuljeet Singh Jamwal chairman chess in school program.
In open category, Atul Singh won the Gold Medal while in women category Madhavi bagged the Gold Medal.
In Under-13 girls, Shanu won the Gold Medal while Madhvan ckinched the Gold Medal in boys category.
Muskan won the Gold Medal in Under-15 girls category while Amit bagged the Gold Medal in boys Under-15 category. Riya Jamwal won the Gold Medal.
All the Gold Medal winners in all categories were given Rs 500 cash prize each along with trophy and Medals while others were given Trophies and Medals.
Total 66 players participated in different categories.
Chief guest appreciated the organizers for giving positive platform to youth of Samba and hoped that more such events will be held by the Association.
