JAMMU, Nov 8: Sainik School Nagrota bagged the much coveted Championship Trophy in the Jammu Sahodaya Athletic Meet at Nagrota, here today.
Twenty schools affiliated to CBSE from Jammu region participated in the Athletic Meet.
Devender Singh Rana, MLA, Nagrota presided over the Closing Ceremony as the chief guest and gave away medals and trophies among the winners.
Athletes in both boys and girls categories sweated it out in the track and field events to improve their schools’ overall points tally. Sainik School topped the medal tally at the end of the final day’s events with 116 points in boys’ category and MHAC School, Nagbani came second with 81 points.
Cadet Jagbir Singh of Sainik School Nagrota broke the 100 mtrs sprint record of the Meet with 11.12 seconds, while Randeep Singh of MHAC School Nagbani was adjudged as the best Athlete in boys’ category.
In the girls’ category MHAC School, Nagbani lifted the Championship Trophy with 69 points while SOS School bagged runners-up trophy with 49 points.
Sapna Sharma of MHAC School, Nagbani won the best athlete trophy in girls’ category. Addressing the contingents, the chief guest Mr Rana applauded the competitive spirit displayed by the athletes in the sports field under the umbrella of Sahodaya Schools.
Captain (IN), A. Muthuraman, Principal expressed his gratitude to the chief guest for gracing the occasion and commended the superlative performance of students in all events.
He also appreciated teachers, officials and students of the participating teams and the staff of the school for making the Athletic Meet a grand success.
