JAMMU, Oct 8: As part of Reserve Bank of India’s new initiative of promoting financial literacy at the school level, the Reserve Bank of India, Jammu organised a Quiz Competition at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Grounds, here today.
Jammu is one of the 33 cities across the Country where the Quiz is being organised.
The students drawn from 26 schools from in and around the city participated in the Competition, which drew an overwhelming response with more than 300 students from the participating schools attending to cheer their friends and in turn winning scores of audience prizes.
The Quiz consisted of questions on the Reserve Bank, Indian banking history, banking, trade and commerce, Indian Economy, common business terms, India’s achievements over the last 77 years (since the inception of the Reserve Bank), as also some general knowledge and current affairs.
It was conducted by Ryan Shaw, a leading Quiz Master based in Kolkata, and his team.
The question format was kept interesting so as to engage the participants and give them and the audience a fun filled learning experience. The special rounds for the audience with gifts for right answers evoked an enthusiastic response. The RBIQ format and the infectious enthusiasm of the Quiz Master were appreciated by one and all.
From the Pre-Quarter Final stage, six teams viz. Delhi Public School, Jammu; Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar; Army Public School, Nagrota; Sainik School, Nagrota; K.C.Public School, Jammu and G D Goenka Public School, Jammu entered the Quarter Finals. Sainik School, Nagrota emerged as the winner of the Quarter Final and will represent Jammu in the Zonal Finals which will be held in the first half of November 2012 at New Delhi. Two winning teams from each of the four Zonal Finals will take part in the National Final to be held in Mumbai in December 2012, in which the winners will be given attractive prizes and the programme telecast live on a national television channel.
A certificate of participation along with an informative booklet on the Reserve Bank of India and a memento was awarded to each participant by the Chief Guest Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Director, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance, University of Jammu and K K Saraf, Regional Director for Jammu & Kashmir, Reserve Bank of India.
