SAG gold medalist Bhanu Pratap, chief coach Handoo given rousing reception

JAMMU, Feb 12: The members of sports fraternity, especially the office bearers of the Wushu Association of Jammu & Kashmir, gave a rousing reception to gold medalist in South Asian Games (SAG), Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh alongwith the chief Wushu coach of India, Kuldeep Handoo at Jammu Airport, here today.
Bhanu Pratap won the gold medal in the 12th South Asian Games at Shillong by defeating Sri Lankan player in the final, before beating rivals from Pakistan and Afghanistan in earlier battles.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pardeep Kumar was another player from Jammu and Kashmir who represented the Country in this Championship and clinched bronze medal.
In the year 2015-16, Bhanu Pratap won galaxy of medals in National and International events in Wushu. With Kuldeep Handoo as his coach, Bhanu Pratap bagged bronze medal in 13th World Championship, bronze medal in 5th Pars Cup and gold medal in 35th National Games.
Under the guidance of chief coach,  Mr Handoo, the record breaking Indian Wushu team emerged overall Champion in both Taolu and Sanshou events.
Bhipender Singh Bajwa, president Wushu Association of India alongwith Suhel Ahmed, general secretary and vice president Manish Kacher have lauded the efforts of the Wushu players and their coaches for this outstanding achievement.
The players and the coach were accorded heroic welcome by president Wushu Association of J&K, HK Lohia, vice presidents, Ranjeet Kalra and Deepak Handa, Chief Sports Officer, Haji Abdul Qayoom and Divisional Sports Officer, Rajan Sharma at Jammu Airport.
Meanwhile, Commissioner/ Secretary Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Hirdesh Kumar while congratulating the players and coach, has described the performance as outstanding.
