Rudrakshi, Sadiya, Ronaq guide J&K to resounding victory

JAMMU, Oct 2: Skipper Rudrakshi Chib’s brilliance, all-rounder Sadiya Wani’s excellence, gritty Ronaq Jahan’s radiance and gutsy Bawandeep Kaur’s patience helped Jammu and Kashmir to thrash Nagaland by 5 wickets in the Plate Group Round III match of the Womens Under-19 One Day Trophy at Vikash Cricket ground, Bhubaneshwar, today.
Earlier, put into bat, Nagaland scored 119 runs in 50 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Opening duo of Bipila and Ilenuele Ziliang scored 70 runs in 31 overs. Bipila top scored with 32 runs off 125 balls, while Ziliang contributed 22 runs off 93 balls. Alemiemla scored 11 runs, while extras contributed 37 runs to the total. Though, all the J&K bowlers hit good areas and bowled with nagging line teasing length, Ronaq Jahan was the only successful bowler, who took 3 wickets by conceding 24 runs in her 10 overs.
In reply, J&K chased the target easily in 33.2 by losing 5 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 5 wickets.
Skipper Rudrakshi top scored with 46 runs off 98 balls, while Sadiya Wani contributed 21 off 30 balls. Once again curbing her explosive instinct, Bawandeep showed patience and composure to score valuable 20 runs off 45 deliveries. Extras contributed 27 runs to the total. For Nagaland, Soyimkumla was the pick of the bowlers, who took 2 important wickets by conceding 27 runs in her 10 overs, while Hegui and Priyanka Karmakar claimed one wicket each.
In Round IV match, J&K will take on Manipur at Vikash Cricket ground, Bhubaneswar, tomorrow.
