JAMMU, Feb 17: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said that Government has earmarked Rs. 61.33 lakh for refurbishment of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar.
Speaking after the launching the works, Bhalla said that the project includes renovation of laboratory, library, staff room, social science room besides construction of examination hall and installation of pre-fabricated shed.
Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board (JKHB) Ram Pal Sharma, Principal of the school, Farida Javed Choudhary besides other officers from School Education Department, JKHB, teaching, non-teaching staff and students in a large number were present on the occasion.
Mr. Bhalla informed that under Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha Abhiyan (RAMSA) and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) the Government was upgrading infrastructure in all Government schools to provide better facilities to the students.
The Minister said central Government has allocated Rs 69 crore under Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) for opening and upgradation of High and Higher Secondary Schools in every constituency of the State with latest infrastructural facilities. He said 69 schools have been upgraded under RMSA across the State, adding that Rs. 49 lakh has been spent on each school.
Mr. Bhalla said 12 new schools have been opened in Gandhi Nagar constituency during last five years tenure of present regime so that the students could get education at their doorstep institutions.
The Minister called upon the parents to send their wards to Government schools for getting quality education as these have well qualified and experienced staff.
Earlier, Mr. Bhalla also visited Kacha Talab in Bahu Fort and kick started construction work of lanes and drains, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 9 lakh. He asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to complete the launched work within stipulated time frame by using quality material.
