JAMMU, Aug 8: Artistic speedster Rohit Sharma was brilliant with his swing, seam and bounce besides generating a lot of pace to scalp 5 wickets, while promising left-arm spinner Ritik Singh once again spun web around the rival batsmen to capture 6 wickets and off-spinning all-rounder Sahil Lotra hit right areas to take 5-wicket haul, besides all-rounder Abid Mushtaq, explosive opener Arya Thakur, composed Shubham Khajuria, gritty Ashank Singh, gutsy Govind Sharma and left-arm spinner Sarveshesh Singh performed well on day-1 of the ongoing Senior Men’s Multi-Day Tournament in two matches played today at Country Cricket Stadium Gharota and Jammu University ground, here.
This ‘Cricket for Peace’ Tournament, is being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at various venues across the Union Territory.
At Country Cricket Stadium Gharota, JKCA Team A5 winning the toss and batting first bundled out for a paltry total of 85 runs in 26.4 overs in their first innings against JKCA A1. Raghav Thakur (21) and Raghav Sharma (19) were the main contributors.
For JKCA A1, Rohit Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, who took 5 wickets by giving away 30 runs in 12.4 overs, while left-arm spinner Abid Mushtaq and medium pacer Manit Jasrotia bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, JKCA A1 scored 170 runs in 44 overs, thus gained a vital first innings lead of 85 runs. Shubham Khajuria top scored with magnificent 51 runs while Abid Mushtaq contributed 41 runs to the total. Archit Mahajan also chipped in with 20 runs.
For JKCA A5, off-spinner Sunil Kumar and left-arm spinner Vishal Kumar claimed 3 wickets each, while Vivrant Sharma claimed two.
JKCA A5 were 34/3 in their second innings at the draw of stumps. Ahmed Shehzad (18) and Surya Udhay (15) were the main contributors. For JKCA A1, Rohit Sharma and Abid Mushtaq claimed one wicket each.
At Jammu University ground, winning the toss and batting first, JKCA A4 scored 141 runs in 38.1 overs in their first innings against JKCA A2. Arya Thakur top scored with 61 runs, while Musaif Ajaz and Dikshant Kundal contributed 23 and 20 runs to the total respectively. Ritik Singh was the wrecker-in-chief for JKCA A2 who took 6 wickets by conceding 31 runs, while Sarveshesh Singh bagged 4 wickets by giving away 44 runs.
In reply, JKCA A2 were 211/6 in 50 overs at stumps. Ashank Singh was unbeaten on 60 runs while Govind Sharma was batting on 49 runs. Suryansh Raina contributed 22 runs to the total. Sahil Lotra took 5 wickets by conceding 70 runs, while Aman Sharma claimed one wicket.
