Rising Star lifts cricket tournament trophy

BANI (Kathua), June 28: Rising Star trounced Royal Tigers by 40 runs in the finals and lifted the Cricket tournament trophy, organised by Diamond Sports Club at Bani, here today.
Social activist and ZMO Koti Chandyar, Dr Rameshwar Singh was the chief guest of the valedictory function. He asserted that the sports is necessary for the overall development of youth both physically and mentally besides helping in keeping them away from the menace of drugs. Atiq-ul-Rehman was the guest of honour on the occasion.
The tournament was organized by the Diamond Sports Club wherein various teams from different regions of Kathua participated enthusiastically and displayed their cricketing skills.
Harsh Manhas was declared as the ‘Star of Tournament’ as he clinched almost all the titles of the tournament including best batsman, man of the tournament and best all rounder as well as best sportsman awards.
Dr Rameshwar Singh presented the trophy and awards to the players of both the teams and appreciated all the players for the exemplary sportsmanship displayed by them. He also lauded the organizing committee for organizing the tournament with success which provided a platform to the youth to display their cricketing skills.
Salman Salaria, Asif Ahmed, Aftab, Shahid Hussain, Zahid and Shahnawaz Malik were the members of the organising committee.
