RCC Srinagar enters QFs of Chevrolet Cup T20 Tournament

JAMMU, July 19: Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC), Jammu defeated Col Chopra Academy XI by a huge margin of 134 runs and qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing Chevrolet Cup Cricket T20 Cricket Tournament, being sponsored by KC Motors Jammu and played at KC School ground, here.
RCC skipper, Puneet Wattal won the toss and decided to bat first on what looked like a batting friendly strip. Batting first, RCC scored a mammoth total of 201 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Ankit Bason played a brilliant innings of unbeaten 87 runs, studded with 8 massive sixes and 5 delectable boundaries, Satish, Honey, Ishan, Ahmer and Samad contributed 24, 21, 21, 19 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For Col Chopra Academy, Ayush Singh Slathia took 2 wickets, while Marutvan, Deepak Dogra and Aditya Singh Chib claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Col Chopra Academy was bundled out for a paltry total of 67 runs to lose the match by a huge margin of 134 runs. Aditya, Prince and Ayush contributed 13, 12 and 10 runs to the total respectively. Spinning quartet of Dilbag Singh, Praful Dhar, Aman Sharma and Honey spun web around the rival batsmen and took 2 wickets each, without conceding much runs, while skipper Puneet Wattal and Speedster Vishal claimed one wicket each. For his magnificent innings of 87 runs, Ankit Bason was adjudged man of the match. He was awarded a Westside Coupon worth Rs 500 from the organizers.
Now in the quarterfinals, RCC Srinagar will take on Shastri Cricket Club at the same venue on July 23, 2015.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Rajinder Singh as umpires, while Vishal Singh Bhau was the scorer.
