Ranji: Despite Ramdayal’s 5-wkt haul J&K in deep trouble

JAMMU, Dec 16: Despite a splendid 5-wicket haul by promising speedster Ramdayal Punia, Jammu and Kashmir were in deep trouble against Services on day-2 of the 4-day Group-C Ranji trophy match at Palam Cricket Ground in Delhi, today.
Earlier, resuming from 150/6, Services managed to score 221 runs in response to J&K’s paltry total of 85 runs in the first innings to gain a lead of 136 runs. RS Paliwal scored a fabulous century (120) runs, studded with 16 boundaries, while Sarabjit Singh contributed 40 runs to the total.
J&K were struggling at 136 for the loss of 6 wickets at the draw of stumps, today. Manik Gupta was at the crease with 22 runs, while Ramdayal was unbeaten on 9 runs. Earlier, skipper Ian Dev Singh scored a magnificent half-century (52) with the help of 6 boundaries. Adil Reshi (23) and Parvez Rasool (21) were other notable contributors. Hardeep Singh and Bandeep Singh fell cheaply. For Services, S Yadav was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 4 wickets.
Now, with 136/6, J&K have yet to surpass the first innings lead as Services had gained a healthy lead of 136 runs. Or in other words, J&K are zero for the loss of six wickets in their second essay.
