Randeep’s early goals help Jammu to thrash Poonch in Nehru Hockey

JAMMU, Aug 28: By converting penalty corner into the goal in the 6th minute and netting a splendid field goal in the 9th minute of the match, Randeep gave Jammu district an early lead and guided it to a fabulous win by five goals to one (5-1) over the strong contender Poonch to win the Divisional Level Inter-District Jawahar Lal Nehru Hockey Tournament at KK Hakhu Stadium, here today.
For Poonch, Gurjot Singh pelted a superb goal in the 42nd minute to make it (3-1) in favour of the Jammu District, however Mandeep Singh and Davinder Singh scored two more goals in 46th and 58th minute of the match respectively to increase the lead by two more goals. Finally Jammu District won the match by five goals to one.
The winners would be representing Jammu division in the forthcoming Inter-Division tournament.
The matches were officiated by Amarjeet Singh, Harvinder Singh, Kulbir Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Mandeep Singh.
Those who were present on the occasion included Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu and ZPEOs Manorma Sharma and Pushpa Sharma.
