Ramandeep, Shivam guide Sittu Club, Young Star to semis

JAMMU, Jan 1: Ramandeep Singh and Shivam Sharma scored 3 goals each to help their teams enter semifinals in the ongoing 1st Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament, being organized by Shaheed-e-Azam Foundation, under the aegis of Hockey J&K at KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here.
In the first match played today, Young Star Simbal Camp thrashed SOS by five goals to one (5-1). Shivam Sharma was the star performer, who scored 3 splendid goals in 16th, 20th and 50th minute of the game, while Devinder Singh and Ramanjeet scored the goals in 39th and 46th minutes respectively. For SOS, Gurdeep Singh scored the lone goal in 57th minute.
In another match, Hiranagar Club defeated Cantt Star Satwari by three goals to nil (3-0) to qualify for the semifinals. Amit Singh succeeded in netting the first goal in 10th minute of the match, while Akash Singh and Suraj Jasrotia scored the goals in 23rd and 35th minutes of the match respectively.
In yet another match played today, Sittu Club blanked Ajit Club Gole Gujral by six goals to nil (6-0). Ramandeep Singh scored 3 superb goals in 7th, 15th and 45th minute, while Navjot scored 2 goals in 9th and 47th minutes and another goal was scored by Ramandeep Jr in 20th minute of the match.
With the entry of today’s winners in the last four stage, the seminals lineup has been drawn in the Tournament.
Now, Hiranagar Club will take on Young Star Simbal Camp in the first semifinal at 1:30 pm tomorrow, while Sittu Club will lock horns with Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club at the same venue on January 3, 2013.
The matches were officiated by Jagjit Singh, Balvinder Singh, Joginder Singh, Mandeep Singh, Dalbir Mehta and GS Bakshi, Tournament Director, while Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest in today’s proceedings.
