PATIALA, Nov 27: Riding on a swashbuckling century and a 5-wicket haul by Rajkumar Bakshi and a valuable contribution of 57 runs by Ameet, the University of Jammu began All India Vice-Chancellors T20 Cup with a bang, thrashing Gorakhpur University by a huge margin of 102 runs in a one-sided contest, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss, skipper Daud Iqbal Baba elected to bat first on a batting friendly strip.
In the stipulated 20 overs. University of Jammu scored mammoth total of 230 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Rajkumar was the top scorer with 126 runs, while Ameet contributed magnificent 57 respectively and Akash chipped in with 21 runs.
In reply, Gorakhpur University bundled out for 128 runs. Manish top scored with 31 runs, while Ravi contributed 24.
For University of Jammu, Rajkumar scalped 5 wickets, while Daud claimed 2. Sandeep and Vishal also picked 1 wicket each. For his extraordinary performance, Rajkumar was adjusted man of the match.
University of Jammu will face Jalgoan University, Maharashtra in its second match on November 29, 2013.
