Raina’s crucial knock helps UP to beat J&K

JAMMU, Dec 8: Suresh Raina’s crucial innings of unbeaten 66 runs helped Uttar Pradesh to beat Jammu and Kashmir by 6 wickets in the Ranji Trophy Group-C match at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Needing 214 runs to win on the penultimate day of the match, Uttar Pradesh at one stage was struggling at 136/4, when Suresh Raina joined by Rinku Singh took their home without further damage.
Raina scored splendid 66 runs off 100 ball studded with 6 fours and 3 sixes, while Rinku Singh contributed valuable 42 runs off 47 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes. Mohd Saif and Skipper Aksh Deep Nath contributed 36 and 22 runs to the total. Parvez Rasool took 2 wickets, while Waseem Raza and Umar Nazir claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 97/7, J&K bundled out for paltry 11 runs to set a target of 214 runs for the visitors. From UP, Saurabh Kumar bagged 5 wickets, while Yash Dayal scalped 4 wickets.
