Indian Railways women scored a thumping 91-39 win over Karnataka on the last day of the league matches in the 64th National Basketball Championship here today.
The defending champions topped Group A after winning all four league matches.
They looked strong from the start and were leading 51-15 in half time.
Raja Priyadarshni scored 20 points (11 rebounds), while M Pushpa 16 and Anju Lakra finished with 13 points (three 3-pointers) for Indian Railways.
Kruthika was the only Karnataka player to score in double digits. Savitha L scored seven while Navaneetha P finished with six points for Karnataka.
Amritpal Singh scored 28 (17 Rebounds), Yadwinder Singh 20 (16 Rebounds), Paramjit Singh finished with 15 (Five 3-Pointers) and Uttarakhand have finished their campaign with a 79-67 win over Chhattisgarh winning three out of four league matches. Karanpal Singh scored 30, Ajay Pratap Singh 15 and Sameer Rai finished with 9 for Chhattisgarh.
Tamil Nadu Men lead Group A with four wins beating Indian Railways in their last league match. Pratham Singh scored 23, Prasanna Venkatesh 23 and Rikin Pethani finished with 16 for Tamil Nadu. N Singh scored 13, P Mishra 13 and Ankur Anand added 12 points for Indian Railways
The 64th National Basketball Championship, being held at the Thaygaraj Stadium from February 26 to March 5, is organised by Basketball Federation of India and supported by IMG-Reliance.
In all 51 teams, 27 men and 24 women are participating in the competition played on League–cum–Knock-out basis. The winner will take home Rs 1,00,000 while the first and second runners-up will receive Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively. (PTI)
