REASI, Jan 15: Wrestler Sandeep of Khanna of Punjab lifted 124th annual Panthal Kesari Dangal title 2024 by defeating Wrestler Munish of Delhi in a neck to neck contest at village Panthal in district Reasi here today.
Sandeep was adjudged as the best Wrestler in Dangal which was organized by Shri Swami Nitya Nand Dangal Committee on the eve of Makar Sankranti. The Winner of Ist Malli bout Wrestler Sandeep was given a cash prize of Rs 61,000 in addition to “Gurj and Patta” while runner-up Wrestler was awarded with cash prize of Rs 50,000.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Paul Mahajan was the chief guest on the occasion who witnessed the Dangal and encouraged the youth while SDM Katra Deepak Dubey, ASP Katra Vipan Chandern and DDC ChairmanPanthal Rajinder Mengi were the guests of honour. Former Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council and President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma was also present.
DySP Katra Surinder Singh Billoria, ACF, SMVDSB Vinay Khajuria, Tehsildar Katra Jatinder Singh, SHO Katra Nishant Gupta, Sher Singh Vice President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Varinder Badyal and Ex Sarpanch Karnail Singh were the special guests.
There were 41 bouts played in the competition. The second main bout was won by Wrestler Rashid of Domana Akhara Jammu who defeated Wrestler Jatinder of Haryana. He was awarded with Rs 41,000 while runner-up Wrestler Jatinder got Rs 30,000.
The third malli bout was won by Nadeem of J&K Police (Doda) who defeated Wrestler Wajid of District Jajjar of (Haryana). Winner Wrestler Nadeem was awarded with Rs 18,000 while runner-up Wrestler Wajid got Rs 13,000. Fourth bout was won by Surjeet Singh of J&K Police of Reasi who defeated Wrestler Partik of Haryana, Surjeet Singh was awarded with Rs 12,000 while runner-up Wrestler Partik got Rs. 9,000.
The proceeding of the Dangal was conducted by Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and Welcome address was presented by Prittam Kumar Magotra.
The other results were Kharpu of Jammu beat Ranjeet Singh of J&K Police, Dillar Khan of J&K Police beat Ambrish of Delhi, Ajay Sharma of Udhampur beat Shivam of Delhi and Liakat of Jammu beat Madan Singh of Roun Domail Akhara.
