JAMMU, Oct 28: Wrestler Prit Paul of Phagwara Punjab and Abdul Gani of Maller Kotla Punjab shared Malpur Wrestling title as their bout ended in a draw. They were awarded with cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.
The mega historic and famous one day wrestling event was organized by Bann Malpur Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Sarpanch Babishan Singh and Rajan Singh (Happy).
In all, 43 bouts were played in one day long Dangal.
BDC Chairman Kuldeep Raj was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runner-up wrestlers. Vice President Indian Style Wrestling Association of India and President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function.
SHO Ravi Parihar, Baba Chanchal Singh Ji and Gurdeep Singh (Chairman) were the guests of honour. Prominent persons present on the occasion were Retd SP Prithivi Raj Sharma, Sarpanch Nitu, Mumtaz, Raj Dev Singh, Bhalla, Karnail, Asgar Ali, Naib Sarpanch Raj Hussain, Soudagar Singh and Puran Langeh.
The second main bout was won by Wrestler Benia Min of J&K Police who defeated Wrestler Sonu Cheema of Punjab. Benia was awarded with cash prize of Rs 61,000 while runner-up wrestler Sonu got Rs 40,000. The third bout was won by wrestler Ciba of Khanna Punjab who defeated wrestler Nisar of Doda, while the fourth bout was won by Yudhbir of Delhi who defeated Talab of Maller Kotla.
Member who helped for conduct of the Vishal Dangal included Sarpanch Babishan Singh (President), Angrez Singh, Nasib Singh, Darshan Singh, You Raj Singh, Nadeem Singh, Banka Ram, Rashpal Singh, Baj Singh and Rajan Singh (Happy).
