SRINAGAR, Sept 18: Principal Secretary to Government Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Department, J&K, Alok Kumar inaugurated District Level Inter Zonal Competition for all the 20 districts of J&K at Amar Singh College Sports stadium, here today.
He was accompanied by Director Youth Services and Sports, Gazanfar Ali, Joint Director (Kashmir), Bashir Ahmed, DYSSO Srinagar Balbir Singh and other senior officers of the Department.
140 teams comprising around 1700 boys and girls from different Zones are taking part in competitions of more than a dozen sports disciplines wherein more than 200 officials have been deputed for the successful conduct of the tournament.
On the occasion, Principal Secretary YSS Alok Kumar while highlighting the role of the DYS&S said that the Department is on the forefront to help and support every player to excel in his/her game. He also congratulated those who won the first phase of the sports competitions (Inter School Zonal Level). Kumar said that he was happy to inaugurate the Competitions and appreciated both boys and girls for taking part in such activities.
“I am observing the sports activities going on in every district of the Union Territory and it gives me immense pleasure that huge participation is taking place.
While sharing the details about YSS Cup 2021 he said that it is an initiative of taking sports to the Panchayat level. “For the benefit of youth, infrastructure of national and international standards is being put in place in J&K to ensure that every player gets equal opportunity.” added the Principal Secretary.
