JAMMU, Jan 23: Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar celebrated its Diamond Jubilee Year’s Sports Meet with pomp and show in its School premises, here.
The programme commenced with the welcome speech by the head girl of the School followed by the School song sung by the School choir.
Chief guest, Sr Stella, hoisted the flag saluting the spirit of the nation, which was followed by March Past by the students in their respective houses.
The oath of upholding the true sportsman spirit was administered by sports captain of the school.
Various races were held on the occasion and the winners of these races were awarded with medals and certificates.
Tanishque Sharma of Class XI and Maria Nizami of Class IX were named athletes of the year, while Koh-e-safa and Girika from senior wing, Saira and Arshia from middle wing and Chahat Oberh from primary wing were awarded the ‘Value Based Award’ for the year 2014-15 and Parul Uppal of class XI bagged the ‘Value Based Award’ for the display of her exemplary courage and bravery that she showcased as she fought an insurgency situation at her house when attacked by robbers.
The Cockshield was won by Peace House and the achievers of 10 CGPA in Class XI were awarded certificates. The certificates of merit were given to Class XII students for subject proficiency.
The Principal of the School addressed the gathering on the occasion and the programme concluded with the presentation of National Anthem.
