NEW DELHI, Jul 4:
The two top seeded players, Prerna Bhambri and Rishika Sunkara, eased into the quarterfinals of the women’s event of the Asian Tennis Tour at DLTA Complex, here today.
Top seed and national champion Prerna defeated Akansha Bhan 6-3 6-2 while Rishika got the better of Amrita Mukherjee 6-2 6-3 in her first round contest of the USD 5000 event.
Prerna will next take on Sai Samhitha Chamarthi, who knocked out qualifier Nithyaraj Baburaj 6-3 6-0.
Rishika is now up against Lalita Devarakonda, who defeated Aarja Chakraborty 6-3 6-3.
Also moving to the quarterfinals were third seed Eetee Maheta, wild card Harsha Sai Challa, Jenifer Luikham and fourth seed Sowjanya Bavisetti.
ATT recently launched the women’s tournaments after getting positive response for the men’s events. (PTI)
