Police organizes Inter College Debate Competition

KATHUA, Mar 7: Police today organized Inter College Debate Competition at district police lines, in which students from six degree colleges participated.
The students expressed their views on the topics “Time is Ripe Enough to End Capital Punishment in India”, “Foreign Investment is Essential for Sustained Development and Poverty Eradication” and “Regulation of Social Networking Sites was need of the Hour”.
Government Degree College, Hiranagar team won the competition on the topic Capital Punishment, while GDC Kathua stood runner-up. On the topic of Foreign Investment, GDC Billawar team emerged winner, while the team from Swami Vivekanand Saraswati College, Chann Arorian, stood runner-up. In the debate competition on Social Networking sites, Government Degree College for Women bagged first position, whereas GDC Basohli was runner-up.
Kumerjeet Chajotra was declared as best speaker in the debate competition. She spoke in favour of abolishing capital punishment.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua was the chief guest, who distributed trophies, certificates and cash prizes among the winners and runner-up teams in presence of Additional Superintendent of Police ZN Manhas, Pr PTS RK Bhat, DySP DAR Rohit Baskotra, civilians and students.
