POONCH, Oct 23: Police Martyrs T20 U/19 Cricket tournament was inaugurated at Sports Stadium, here today.
About 16 teams of district Poonch are participating in this tournament which was inaugurated by the DDC, Rahul Yadav as chief guest while Manik Sharma son of Police Martyr, Late Babu Ram was the guest of honour.
SSP Poonch, Romesh Angral, Addl SP Khalid Ameen, DySP DAR Sachin Gupta, DySP Ameen Qureshi and DySP Manish Sharma were also present during the inaugural function.
Opening match was played between Poonch Royals and Gountrian Gladiators. Batting first, G Gladiators scored 110 runs by losing all wickets in stipulated 20 overs. For Poonch Royals, Imran took 3 wickets while Masooq clinched 2 wickets.
In reply, Poonch Royals chased the target in just 8.2 overs by not losing single wicket and won the match.
The match was officiated by Vikas Sharma PET and Sachan Sharma ReK while Rajneesh Maink PET was the scorer and Rajinder Singh Toofan acted as Third Umpire.
Meanwhile, District Table Tennis Association Poonch also inaugurated Table Tennis tournament at Indoor Sports Hall Poonch in which Additional Deputy Commissioner, Basharat Hussain was the chief guest.
Er Saleem Bandey, general secretary of the Association welcomed the chief guest and elaborated the achievements of the Association.
While speaking on occasion, the chief guest encouraged the Association for popularising the Table Tennis game in this far flung district and assured all possible help from the District Administration for the promotion of this game.
