SAMBA, Mar 19: Police organized Dangal (Wrestling competition) in a border village Sanoora, situated near the International Border in this district, today.
The wrestling competition was witnessed by hundreds of people and cheered for the wrestlers.
SSP Benam Tosh, Addl. SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, DySP Garu Ram Bhardwaj, SHO Ghagwal Bharat Bhushan and Chouki Officer Rajpura Sudhir Charak awarded the winner wrestlers with cash prizes.
BDC Chairman Rajpura Radha Krishan, Sarpanch Rajpura Suresh Basotra, Sarpanch Sanoora Davinder Singh, Sarpanch Madoon Ram Dhan, Naib Sarpanch Sanoora Dhanwanti Devi, Panch Rajpura Kuldeep Kumar, Panch Sanoora Neelam Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Pushpa Rani, renowned social activists Kulbushan Singh and Rajesh Upadhay graced the occasion.
The first bout was won by Rashid Pahalwan of Vijaypur by defeating Zakir Pahalwan of Punjab, while 2nd bout was won by SPO Raj Singh of Taloor Samba by beating Rahul Pahalwan of Vijaypur.
A total of 50 wrestlers from Punjab, Samba, Kathua and Jammu participated in the Dangal. The public of border villages appreciated the initiative of police regarding organizing sports and other activities in the border area of Samba and Ramgarh sectors.
The SSP said that the main objective of Jammu Kashmir Police behind organizing this event and other sports activities under CAP are to completely eradicate the menace of drugs from the society and save the precious lives of addicted youth.
He further informed that Police is going to organize several other sports activities in Samba district in near future and advised the sportsperson to get them ready to take part.
