Srinagar, June 6: Police today claimed to have distributed cricket kits among 20 teams in Baramulla under the civic action programme.
A police spokesman said the kits were distributed at District Police Lines Baramulla by SSP, Baramulla, Suhail Munawar Mir.
Mir said that it was an attempt to promote positive engagements of youth in sports activities.
“The teams among which these cricket kits were distributed are Kanlibagh Eleven Baramulla, Lover Boys Baramulla, Star United Baramulla, Three Star Baramulla, Cricket Club Pattan-A, Nahilpora CC-A, Chander Hama-A, Hyderbagh Cricket Club, Checkseri Pattan, Drivers Cricket Club Tangmarg, Terrain Sports Club Tangmarg, Boniyar Cricket Club, Kamalkot -A, Chakra, Gingil Cricket Club, Uri Star, Brarripora Cricket Club, Green Land Bijhama, Amjid Eleven and Noorkhah Tigers,” the spokesman said.
Among others, Additional SP Baramulla Manzoor Ahmad, SP Telecom Mohammad Shafi, DySP (Hqrs) Baramulla Feroz Yahya, SDPO Uri Kameshwar Puri and other police officers attended the function.
Similarly, SP Sopore Abdul Qayoom also distributed sports kits to Sopore XI Clubs and Sultaniya Cricket Club of Tujjar Sharief, under Civic Action programme.
Among others SDPO Sopore Riyaz Iqbal Tantray, Dy SP DAR Mashqoor Ahmad, SHO P/S Bomai Raja Majid DySP Probationer and prominent citizens of the area attended the function.
