UDHAMPUR, Sept 14: Advocate, Sanjeet Bavouria along with Badminton players submitted a memorandum to Dr Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner and demanded high level inquiry in construction of Indoor Stadium at Subhash Stadium.
Addressing media persons, Bavouria said that the foundation stone for the Indoor Sports Complex was laid at Subhash Stadium by the then Sports Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din with total cost of Rs 1.34 crore on November 16, 2013.
“During the foundation stone ceremony, the then Sports Minister announced that the upcoming Sports Complex would give fillip to sports activities including Badminton and Table Tennis besides conducting tournaments for indoor games like Wushu, Judo, Gymnastic, Power Lifting, Chess and Carrom etc but due to insufficient height of the Indoor Hall, the Badminton is not playing inside the Hall,” they alleged.
As per the experts, the Indoor Hall should have minimum height 39 feet but the newly constructed Indoor Hall’s height is maximum 20 feet, resulting of it, it is useless for organising Badminton matches, that’s why we have demanded a high level enquiry in construction of Indoor Hall at Subhash Stadium.
They further alleged that the design of the Indoor Hall designed by a local Architecture instead of Government approved Architecture and it was revealed by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) under RTI.
