POONCH, Jan 29: Power House Hockey Club (PHHC) won the District Hockey Championship (PHHC) by defeating Stadium XI by 6-3 goals in the finals of junior boys’ category played at Sports Stadium here today.
Earlier, in the first semis, PHHC defeated Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hockey Club (BBSBHC), whereas in the second semis, Stadium XI registered resounding win over Stadium Orange by 4-1 goals.
In the final match played today, Shobit scored two goals in 5th and 20th minute for PHHC. Sohail Azeem, Vishal Sudan, Gurjot Singh and Nazrat also netted one goal each in 25th, 38th, 56th and 59th minute of the match, respectively.
For Stadium XI, Aman Bharti scored two goals in 40th and 56th minute, while Sawal also scored a goal during 46th minute of the match.
The match was officiated by Rohit Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, NIS Hockey coach and Pawan Kumar, NIS Hockey Coach.
SSP Poonch, JS Johar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, presented trophies to winner and runner-up teams. The individual prizes were also awarded to the players.
The match was also witnessed by Seeshan Bhat, Deputy SP Operation, Sarla Bakshi, Incharge, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Poonch, while as Nirdosh Sharma, Incharge, Sports Stadium Poonch, Narjeet Singh, ZPEO, Zone Nangali and Ved Prakash, DYSSO, were also present.
The championship was organized by Hockey Poonch under the aegis of Hockey J&K and under the supervision of Sham Lal Sharma, retd SAI Hockey coach and vice-president of Hockey J&K.
