JAMMU, Dec 22: Minister for Public Enterprises, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has said that education is the key to overall development and progress of the society and all out efforts need to be made for promotion of the sector.
The Minister was addressing after concluding the 4th Annual Sports Meet, organized by the Banyan International School (BIS), Jammu today.
Minister for CA&PD and Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon, Member Legislative Council, B. R. Kundal, Chief Pattern of BIS and Former Member Parliament, Janak Raj Gupta, Former MLC, Dharam Veer Singh, Additional Director General of Police, K. Rajendra, Mahant Manjeet Singh, prominent citizens, parents, staff members of the institution and a large number of students attended the function.
Highlighting the importance of moral education, Peerzada appealed parents to educate their wards about the moral education. He said that need of the hour is to give thrust on moral education along academic education to the students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for CA & PD and Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon said that the talent is present among the students of the State but need is to channelize it in a proper way so that they can prove their metal at National as well as International levels competitions.
He said attaining good education is the need of the day and stressed upon the teaching staff to work with dedication and impart quality education to the students besides moral education.
Appreciating the school management for organizing the event the Minister said such activities are important for healthy mind and sound body.
Terming recent Delhi incident as shameless, Mr. Akhoon condemned and asked for giving moral education to the students.
Additional Director General of Police, K. Rajendra also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of the sports activities.
Earlier, the Principal of the Institution presented annual report 2012-13 and while Mr. Harinder Mahajan presented vote of the thanks on the occasion.
Later, the Ministers distributed prizes among the students who participate in the sports event.
