JAMMU, July 13: Outplaying Champions Cricket Club by a margin of 26 runs in the league match of the league cum knockout contest, Patel Cricket Club sealed berth in the quarterfinals of the ongoing KC Sports Club T20 Cricket Cup 2017, being played at KC School ground, here.
The Tournament is being organized by KC Sports Club, Jammu under the overall supervision of Arjun Chowdhary, Managing Director KC Sports Club, while the matches are being supervised by Sanjeev Sharma, organizing secretary of the event.
Earlier, in today’s match, Patel Cricket Club skipper Sachin Singh won the toss and decided to bat first.
Batting first, Patel Cricket Club scored a modest total of 123 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Abhinav Puri top scored with 41 runs, while Aryan Chopra and Rhythem Mahajan contributed 23 and 22 runs to the total respectively. Abhinav, in particular, was in sublime touch and hit the ball with fluidity and grace in his magnificent knock. From Champions Cricket Club, Akshit Chadha was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 important wickets, while Raghu Sharma and Mohit Bhandari claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Champions Cricket Club, in race of chasing the target within 15 overs to maintain the net run rate collapsed at a paltry total of 97 runs to lose the match by 26 runs. Shanga top scored with 29 runs, hitting some massive sixes, while Akshit Chadha and Bhanu chipped in with 12 and 10 runs respectively. From Patel Cricket Club, Tayyab was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 3 important wickets, while Abhinav and Gourav claimed 2 wickets each.
President Patel Cricket Club, Jung Bahadur Singh Jamwal and its General Secretary, Vijay Sharma has lauded the efforts of the captain and the players for sealing berth in the last eight stage.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Madan Lal as umpires, while Vinod Kandayara was the sorer.
