JAMMU, Dec 18: Speedster Omar Nazir’s 6-wicket haul helped Jammu and Kashmir to script a convincing win by 72 runs over Gujarat in the ongoing 4-day match of Cooch Behar Under-19 Boys Cricket Tournament at Lal Bai Stadium, Surat in Gujarat, today.
Chasing a target of 292 runs set by J&K, Gujarat resumed their innings from an over-night score of 1/0. J&K’s promising medium fast bowler Omar Nazir wrecked havoc in the rival camp with his disciplined line and length. After losing the wickets at regular intervals, the whole Gujarat team bundled out for 220 runs in 75 overs, thus lost the match by a margin of 72 runs. Skipper Akshar Patel’s unbeaten knock of 87 runs went in vain as it failed to guide Gujarat to victory. Vishal Tomar and Jai Kishan contributed 54 and 34 runs to the total. For J&K, Omar Nazir was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 6 important wickets by conceding 56 runs in his 23 overs, while Aquib Nazir bagged 2 and Paras Sharma one.
