JAMMU, July 29: Oma Bharti of Aryan Public Secondary School lifted the title trophy of the girls Under-19 Carrom competition, which was as part of the Jammu District Inter-School Tournaments in the disciplines of Carrom, Table Tennis and Chess, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports to pick Jammu District teams for forthcoming Inter-District Competitions.
The duo of Tanvi Jamwal and Sonika Devi of Govt Higher Secondary School, Kandoli, Nagrota lifted Carrom Under-19 Girls doubles title.
While Oma defeated Vanshika Gupta of DBN Amarvilla School in a close contest, the pair of Tanvi and Sonika got better of the duo of Deepanshi Suri and Raksha Koul of DBN Amarvilla in an easy contest.
Earlier, in singles 1st semifinal, Vanshika Gupta of DBN Amarvilla thrashed Vishali Kumari of Aryan Public School, while in the 2nd semifinal, Oma Bharti of Aryan Public Secondary School prevailed over Shivangi Rajput of Oriental Academy.
In doubles semifinals earlier, Deepanshi Suri and Raksha Koul of DBN Amarvilla trounced Chahat Pangotra and Kakshi Choudhary of Aryan Public School, while in 2nd semifinal, Tanvi Jamwal and Sonika Devi of GHSS Kandoli Nagrota beats Divya Kumari and Riya Verma of GGHS Bishnah.
In all 300 girls drawn from Govt. and Private institutions of district Jammu took part in the competition.
The competitions were organized under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, Jammu and under the overall supervision of Chanchal Kour, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu.
Meanwhile, in Table Tennis Under-19 girls, 1st semifinal, Carmel Convent lost to their rival by 3-0, while in 2nd semifinal, Heritage School beat Model Academy by 3-2 and in the finals Heritage School lost to their rival by 3-0.
The matches were officiated by Khadotra, Gourav Sharma and Neeru Jabalia.
In Chess Under-19 girls finals, Arushi Kotwal of BSF beat Sanjana Amla of Oriental Academy, while in the semifinals, Arushi beat Vaishnavi Khajuria of Carmel Convent and Sanjana defeated Prakriti Koul of SOS.
