Shaheed Lt Thakur Dass Memorial Tourney

JAMMU, Jan 24: Northern Cricket Club trounced Sunderbani CC with eight wickets and sailed into finals of Shaheed Lieutenant Thakur Dass Memorials Cricket Tournament, being played at Govt Hr Sec School Akhnoor, here today.
The Northern CC won the toss and decided to ball first. Batting first, Sunderbani CC scored 145 by losing four wickets in 20 overs. Mickey made highest 51 runs off 35 balls, whereas Rohit also scored 51 runs off 27 balls and Arif contributed 11 runs. From bowling side, Sachin, Ankush and Akash shared one wicket each.
In reply, Northern CC easily chased the target by losing only two wickets in 17.5 overs. Lakhan made highest 76 runs, Sumit and Akash contributed 35 and 24 runs respectively. From bowling side, Raghav got two important wickets. Lakhan was awarded with man of the match for his outstanding batting, whereas Dayal Singh & Sonu Malhotra were umpires and Rohit Kumar & Sushil Gupta acted as scorers.
DK Kapoor (President Akhnoor Sports Club) was the chief guest while Surinder Khajuria, Dr Romesh Kashyap, Krishan Lal, DP Langer, Deepak Mani, Ranjit Singh, Suresh Gupta, Jagpal Sharma and Navratan Sharma were among guests of honour.
The tournament is being organized by Akhnoor Sports Club under the overall supervision of Kr Sham Singh Langeh (Gen Secy District Jammu JKCA) and Vishnu Kant Sharma (Chairman Thakur Dass Memorial Cricket Tournament).
