JAMMU, July 2: National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIEIIT) organized video conferencing-cum-lecture session on Digital India.
On the occasion, Managing Director, NIEIIT, India Dr Ashwani Kumar Sharma briefed about Digital India through video conferencing from Delhi, whereas Director, NIEIIT, J&K, AH Moon described the benefits of Digital India through video conferencing from Srinagar.
Through video conferencing, Dr Ashwani Kumar Sharma and AH Moon stated that Digital India envisage the availability of Government services to citizens electronically by defining a definite timeframe and bearing accountability.
They added that NIEIIT has already been actively participating in Digital India initiative including creation of national population register, Jeevan Praman Patara and Mass Literacy Programme including National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM), Training of Panch and Sarpanchs under MoPR, Training of Rural Youth, Design and implement of Government services like Indira Gandhi Old Age Pension Scheme and Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM).
“Under NDLM 1.10 lakh households are to be trained which including Anganwadi Workers, ASHA Workers, fair price shop and household belonging to remotest regions of Anantnag, Pulwama, Baramulla, Shopian and Doda. More than 300 facilitation centres are actively involved in the implementation of the scheme”, they disclosed.
Under the national population register, NIEIIT has been involved in digitizing over 1 crore records covering entire districts of Jammu and Kashmir, they said, adding that under the MoPR Scheme, NIEIIT has trained over 200 Panchayati Raj functionaries in Uttarakhand and over 3000 functionaries in J&K.
On the occasion, VS Krishnamurthy, Controlling Officer, Jammu Centre, DS Oberoi, Scientist E, Shailendra Krishan Sharma, Assistant Director Technical and Kalpana Jasrotia, Technical Officer also delivered lectures on Digital India.
The programme was organized by Shuk Dev Kaul, Assistant Director, Admin and Rajneesh Raina, Deputy Director, Technical, which was highly appreciated by the audience.
