JAMMU, Oct 2: The newly elected management team of Tawi Trekkers, J&K, today (on the foundation day of the club) took oath of office and assumed the charge.
The oath was administered to the new office bearers and executive members by founder member of the club, Prof Lalit Magotra, who is at present the advisor of the club.
While addressing the members, the outgoing secretary, Ram Khajuria, said highlighted the role of the Club in inculcating among the people a spirit of adventure and love of nature at time when there was no such organisation. During the last 32 years, such has been the pace of the activities that it seemed only sometime in the past when the members stepped into the world of adventure and dedicated themselves to spread “the spirit and lure of Himalaya” throughout the country, he added.
In the end Shawetica Khajuria, advised the members to work with full dedication and solicited the blessings, guidance and cooperation of members to make Tawi Trekkers J&K one of the leading trekking organisations in the world.
The J&K Sport Climbing Team which won 6 medals including a gold and two silver in the 20th North Zone Sport Climbing competition held at IIT, Kanpur was also felicitated on the occasion.
