JAMMU, Mar 7: New Challengers Cricket Club and Stadium XI Kathua registered convincing victories over their rivals in the low scoring matches to advance into the next round of the Jammu and Kashmir Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu Tawi Sports Club at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
In the first match, New Challengers Club defeated Khalsa Cricket Club by 6 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, Khalsa Club was bundled out for a paltry total of 98 runs in 19.5 overs. Bawa scored 17 runs, while Nitin and Romey contributed with 16 runs each. For New Challengers Club, Sahil Bhalwal and Deepak Singh Manhas took 2 wickets each, while Vijay Dogra, Soumay Jai and Sumit claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, New Challengers Club chased the target in 16.1 overs by losing 4 wickets to win the match by 6 wickets. Sahil Bhalwal top scored with 28 runs, while Ashu and Gokul Baru contributed 19 and 17 runs to the total respectively. Nitin, Gurpreet and Vicky claimed one wicket each. Sahil Bhalwal was adjudged as man of the match for all-round show.
In another match, Stadium XI Kathua got better ofAircel XI by 6 wickets. Aircel XI, after batting first collapsed at 84 runs, with Tarun top scoring with 20 runs and Nasir and Anil contributing 13 and 9 runs respectively. For Stadium XI Kathua, Parshant took 3 wickets and Arvind claimed 2 wickets. Shiv, Mayank and Romey claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Stadium XI chased the target in 16.4 overs. Arvind top scored with 28 runs, while Surinder and Parshant contributed 24 and 15 runs to the total respectively. For Aircel XI, Sunny and Nikhil took 2 wickets each, while Anand claimed one wicket. Arvind was adjudged as man of the match.
