JAMMU, Dec 1: Drubbing KC Sports Club by a big margin of 55 runs in the summit clash, New Challengers Cricket Club lifted the title trophy of the KCSC T20 Cricket Cup at KC School ground, here today.
Former chairman and Working Committee Member JKCA, Romesh Mahajan was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners. He also presented a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to the winners on the occasion.
Earlier, batting first, New Challengers Club scored a fighting total of 142 runs in the stipulated 20 overs on what looked like to be a bowling friendly strip. Rahul Mussa top scored with 32 runs, while Manjeet Singh and Bansi Lal (Ashu) contributed 23 and 15 runs to the total respectively. Skipper Sumit hit 2 powerful sixes in the last over to give respectability to the team’s total. For KCSC, Ashwani Bhat was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 3 important wickets by conceding 15 runs in his 4 overs, while Sidhant Singh Bagal also claimed 3 wickets by giving away 22 runs in his 3 overs. Skipper Arjun Choudhary, Vivek and Noushad shared one wicket apiece.
In reply, KCSC bundled out for a paltry total of 87 runs in 15 overs, thus lost the match by 55 runs. Ashwani Bhat top scored with 28 runs, while Noushad and Ateev Saini contributed 16 and 11 runs to the total respectively. For New Challengers, Manjeet Singh Chib was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 4 important wickets by giving away 16 runs in his 3 overs, Naresh and Soumay Jain bagged 2 wickets each, while Bansi Lal and Rahul Mussa claimed one wicket each. Manjeet Singh was adjudged man of the match for his superb all-round performance.
The match was officiated by Sohail Yousuf and Sandeep Manchanda as umpires, while Amit Sharma was the scorer.
