JAMMU, Jan 8: Riding on brilliant knocks of 88 and 62 runs by Gourav Khajuria and Vimarsh Kaw respectively, coupled with 4-wicket haul by Deepak Singh Manhas, New Challenger Cricket Club thrashed Friends Cricket Club (FCC) by a big margin of 52 runs in the ongoing 3rd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament, being played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, New Challenger Club scored a decent total of 187 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Gourav Khajuria top scored with 88 runs, while Vimarsh Kaw contributed 62 runs to the total. Manjeet Singh also chipped in with 22 runs. For FCC, Deepak bagged 2 wickets, while Pawan claimed one.
In reply, FCC managed to score 135 runs in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by 52 runs. Ricky (29), Kultaron (26) and Gagan (24) were the main contributors. Deepak Singh Manhas was the pick of the bowlers for New Challenger Club, who scalped 4 important wickets, while Firdous and Sahil claimed 2 wickets each. Gourav Khajuria was declared as man of the match.
Meanwhile, in Under-16 Boys Jammu Budding T20 Cup, Junior Warriors defeated Col R N Chopra Cricket Club in a close contest by 12 runs.
Winning the toss and batting first, Junior Warriors scored 149 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sarthak Peshin and Kanaihya Wadhawan contributed 43 runs each, while Satyabrat scored 22 runs. For RN Chopra Club, Anmol took 4 wickets, while Murtuwan claimed one.
In reply, Col RN Chopra Cricket Club managed to score 137 runs in 20 overs. Raj Partap top scored with 25 runs, while Ayush Andotra contributed 21 runs and Abhay Tandon chipped in with 17 runs. Ankush and Satyabrat took 2 wickets each, while Kanaihya claimed one wicket. Satyabrat was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round show.
