Netball C’ship gets underway

JAMMU, Mar 6: District Jammu Netball Championship, organised by Netball Association of J&K, got underway at Indoor Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, here today.
The opening witnessed league rounds of the competition in different age groups of boys and girls in under-17, under-19 and senior categories wherein about 200 participants were participating.
Amphalla Club clinched under-19 boys gold outplaying Old City Club by 21-16 in the final. Third place in the under-19 boys section went to Rehari Club. Similarly, in girls’ under-19 category, Bantalab Club trounced Shastri Nagar Club by 17-13 in a close contest and in senior men, Gandhi Nagar Club defeated RS Pura Club in the final to secure gold, while 3rd place went to Old City Club.
The under-16 boys’ title went to Old City Club, who beat Amphalla Club in the final, while 3rd place was secured by Rehari Club. Similarly, in the under-16 girls’ category, Old Club trounced Amphalla Club in the final.
Social activist Tarun Uppal was a special guest of honour, who gave away the title trophies and medals to winners and runners-up of different categories. He also encouraged the participants for being committed to the game and working hard for the title trophies.
Earlier, general secretary of the NAJK, Rajiv welcomed the guest and other distinguished gathering and briefed the guests about the event, whereas senior Judo coach, Vikas Dogra was also present.
The technical penal was led by Sher-e-Kashmir awardee, Akash Batra which consist of Amit Sharma, Aniket Singh, Tushar Gupta, Aryan Gupta, Tushar Arora, Aditya Sharma, Gaurav Kumar, Gurpreet Kour, Shristha, Aashima Pathania, Maverick Batra, Surjeet Kumar, Vishal Singh, Akshit Arora, Sumit Sharma, Arjun Soni, Nishant Bali and Abhishek
