NCC to face RCC Srinagar in T20 final

JAMMU, May 8: Outplaying their respective rivals in the semifinals today, Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar and National Cricket Club (NCC) Jammu have sealed berth in the finals of the ongoing 2nd Jammu Tawi T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club at M A Stadium, and will take on each other in the summit clash on May 11, 2014, here.
Earlier, in the first match, RCC Srinagar registered a thrilling win by 2 wickets against JKP XI.
Earlier batting first, JKP XI scored a fighting total of 138 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Avinash top scored with 38 runs, while Rompy, Shashi and Pankaj Ladda contributed 25, 21 and 18 runs to the total respectively. For RCC Srinagar, Amit and Amandeep took 2 wickets each, while Satish, Kuldeep and Rahul Mussa claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, RCC Srinagar chased the target in 19.1 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Amit top scored with 40 runs off 29 balls including 4 fours and 2 sixes, while Puneet, Sahil Singh and Kuldeep contributed 17, 13 and 10 runs respectively. For JKP XI, Pankaj Singh took 3 wickets, while Shashi and Arvind bagged 2 wickets each. Amit of RCC was declared man of the match.
In another match, NCC sailed on a brilliant half-century by magical Kavaljeet Singh to pip JCC by a narrow margin of 3 runs.
Bating first, NCC scored a decent total of 161 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Kavaljeet Singh scored magnificent 53 runs off 58 balls, while Sagar Gupta, Deepak Singh Manhas and Irshad contributed 28, 21 and 13 runs to the total respectively. For JCC, Paras Sharma took 3 wickets, while Deepak Dogra and Vishwajeet Singh claimed one wicket each.
In reply, JCC scored 157 runs in the stipulated overs to lose the match by a narrow margin of 3 runs in a thrilling contest. Shubam Pundir top scored with 43 runs, while Deepak Singh Manhas, Sidharth Magotra and Sandeep Singh scored 24, 20 and 18 runs to the total respectively. Nitin Mehra was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets by conceding 10 runs in 4 overs, while Inderjeet Singh bagged 2 wickets. Pranav Mahajan and Vijay Dogra claimed one wicket each. Kavaljeet Singh was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant batting display.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Suhail Yousuf, Sandeep Manchanda, Rajinder Singh and Bunty Kumar.
The Tournament is being organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club, under the supervision of organizing committee comprising of chairman, Raja Vivek; president, Sanjeev Sharma; vice president Neeraj Gupta and general secretary, Shashi Paul, the organizing secretary of the Tournament.
The winner of the Tournament will get a cash award of Rs 51,000 sponsored by Saraswati Agro Chemical Pvt Ltd, India.
