Nawaz becomes 1st Ranji player of Poonch

POONCH, Jan 21: Nawaz Rather has become first player from District Poonch who played both Ranji Trophy (2019-20) and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (2018-19).
He had played only one match against Punjab in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but he impressed everyone with his wicket keeping as well as batting skills. Nawaz had played cricket Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19 categories during his short career.
It is worth mentioning here that Nawaz is hard working and dedicated player who belongs to Mandi area of border district Poonch. No one from his family have cricket background but his uncle Azam Rather always supported him all the way to reach this level.
He was awarded with best wicket keeper award in a National level wicket keeping camp at Delhi in the year 2020 where many renowned wicket keepers took part.
It is an honour and proud for District Poonch that the son of soil has brought pride to the area and he is the role model for new generation of the Poonch district.
