Nat’l Skyrunning C’ship held at Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Dec 26: J&K Sky Running a constituent of Foreshore Athletes under the aegis of Sky Running Association of India organized 3rd National Skyrunning Championship, here today.
The high altitude event was held in different categories wherein participants covered 10-20 km distance from Harwan to Astaanmarg and culminated back at Harwan.
The running was flagged off by Additional District Development Commissioner, Syed Haneef Balki in presence of SHO Harwan, RP Singh and athletes from Valley’s prominent Clubs, States and Associations including Foreshore Athletes, J&K Mountaineering and Adventure Club, Hussaini Sports Club, J&K Adventure Sports Club, JK Mountain Biking Association, while the sky running teams from Rajasthan, Delhi, Maharashtra and Punjab also took part in the championship.
Gulbudin Hikmatyar stood 1st, place, while Mohammad Ashaf and Muzamil Hussain Mir achieved 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat finished first in above 35 years group, while Faheem got first place in above 50 years category and Mahesh Mehra of Rajasthan stood 1st in Para category, besides Qursheed Ahmad remained 1st in above 40 years category, whereas in veteran women, Mehwish, Anjum Verma and Sarita clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively and in under- 14 boys, Adnan Bashir stood first, while in under 14 girls, Nabeela Khan got first place.
Secretary Sky Running Association of India, Kuldeep Patil was chief guest at the valedictory function of certificates and medal distributions.
Prominent figures including Syed Tahir (JKHMC), Tahir Ahmad (Athletic Coach), Yawar Zaib (TAAK) Haji Ashiq (YN) Abarar, Mudasir Ahmad and Gh Nabi (Foreshore Athletes) were present on the occasion.
