‘National Youth Parliament’ held at APS Damana

JAMMU, Aug 17: Army Public School Damana organized ‘National Youth Parliament’ in the School premises, here today.
The event was organized under the aegis of Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Govt of India, wherein Priya Sethi, former Minister was the chief guest, while Ex MLC Ramesh Arora was the guest of honour.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Manmohan Singh, PGT Political Science, followed by lighting of lamp by the dignitaries. The event was declared open by School Principal Pushpinder Kaur.
She briefed the parliamentarians of the School about the need and responsibilities of the youth in order to strengthen the roots of democracy and inculcate discipline and tolerance amongst them. About 60 students participated in the event and envisaged the functioning of the real parliament.
Yachna Rajput (X) enacted as Prime Minister of India, while Shimani Choudhary (XII) represented as Speaker of the House and Priya Manhas (XII) as Leader of the Opposition, besides Vineet Sharma (IX) enacted as Defence Minister and Amitoj Singh (XII) represented as Tourism Minister. The procedure and functioning of Parliament was also seen in true letters and spirit when two young Parliamentarians Smriti Choudhary (XII) and Ayushman Koul (XII) took oath during the event.
The chief guest motivated the students for showing keen interest in the sensitive issues of the country, while Ramesh Arora appreciated the efforts and exuberance of the students and encouraged them to participate more in such programmes.
The programme was coordinated by Manmohan Singh (PGT Pol Sc) Sangeeta Sehgal (TGT S.Sc), Anurita Koul (PRT), Jagbhushan Bakshi (TGT Music), Sanjeev Kumar and Nitish Kumar (IT Faculty ).
The vote of thanks was presented by Sangeeta Sehgal.
