UDHAMPUR, Feb 27: A function was organized today by Happy Model HSS Foundation, Aware India Foundation, Masters Sports Athletics Association, Dogra Athletics Club Udhampur and Roll Ball Association Udhampur to honour Ashok Kumar (former Director Sports, SMVDSB) and Sandeep Kour (YSS Department), National medalists from J&K in the 17th Masters National Athletics Open Championship.
Padam Shree Prof Shiv Dutt Nirmohi was the chief guest on the occasion. He honoured both the ace master athletes with medals in the presence of other dignitaries which include Dr Munish Gulati, Dr Vikram Gulati, Johan Wilson, Vice Chairman, Rural Development Society.
Athlete Ashok Kumar has won 3 gold medals in the J&K UT level championship; one gold and one silver medal in 4×100 meter relay and 200 m race at Alwar (Rajasthan) and one bronze medal in Hammer throw at National Masters Games at Varanasi, recently.
Similarly, Sandeep Kour has won one gold and 2 silver medals in 1500 m race, 3 km race and 5 km walk in 17th Open National Masters Championship. Besides, she has won 2 gold and 1 silver in J&K level championships.
