JAMMU, Jan 24: National Girl Child Day was celebrated with great pomp and show.
To celebrate National Girl Child Day, a seminar on the “Girl Child” was held in the premises of Handa College of Education and Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School. Hafeeza Muzzaffar, Executive Director Rehabilitation, Social Welfare Department was the chief guest, who while speaking highlighted the need for strengthening the girl child and to empower her. Prof Rita Jitendra an eminent social worker highlighted the importance of women in this world. Veena Handa, Chairperson said that to curb the crimes against women, both males and females are required to work together.
Lawrence Public School celebrated National Girl Child Day with zeal. Students and teachers spoke about the importance of the day and importance of empowering the Girl Child and women in the society. Shakuntla Joshi, Principal, said that there is urgent need to create awareness and improve the status of the girl child.
