Nasir Aslam inaugurates cricket tourney

KARGIL, June 10: The Minister of State for Home, Tourism and Urban Development, Nasir Aslam Wani inaugurated the 2nd Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Cricket Tournament at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium Biamathang in Kargil, today.
About 100 teams drawn from all over Kargil District are taking part in the tournament, which is being organized by District Police Kargil under Civic Action Programme.
The inaugural match was played between Akashvani Club and Alamgeer Yokchoks Club.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that for promotion of tourism in Kargil, he would work out some plans with the local bodies and would introduce festivals, familiarization tours and sports activities in the district.
Nasir said that poor connectivity was also a reason for lack of promotion of tournament in Kargil, adding that state government was trying to solve this problem at an earliest by providing Air Service and Zojjila Tunnel.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were MP Ladakh, Ghulam Hassan Khan, Exsecutive Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Haji Ghulam Amir Kamran, MLA Zanaskar, Feroz Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, M Raju, Brig Shami Raj, SSP Kargil Javed Iqbal Mattoo and SE Kargil, Abdul Wahid.
