Leh, June 25: Department of Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh and WAPCOS Limited, a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Jal Shakti today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of multi-sports complexes in Leh and Kargil districts of UT of Ladakh.
Administrative Secretary, Ravinder Kumar on behalf of the Department of Youth Services and Sports and Rakshit Kerni, Project incharge, Construction Works, Ladakh on behalf of WAPCOS Limited signed the MoU.
As a part of this Project, two multi-sports complexes with state-of-the-art facilities will be set up, one in Leh and one in Kargil with an approximate cost of Rs. 60 crores, Rs.30 crores each for Leh and Kargil districts. The sites have already been identified and finalized for the project.
Secretary Ravinder expressed that such projects will provide the platform and boost the youth of UT Ladakh in the sports sector.
Later, the Secretary directed WAPCOS Pvt. Ltd to come up with a world-class facility with international standards and complete the project within the stipulated time.
