RAJOURI, June 22: Mohammad Shah Nawaz emerged winner in running, whereas Mohammad Younis and Shahid Ahmed lifted short put and long jump title, organised during “Cultural and Sports Mela” by Army under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Darhal, here today.
The event was aimed at promoting sporting culture amongst the youth of the region and also provided an opportunity to the budding and talented youth of the region to showcase their innate talent.
During the mela, competitions for popular games like running (100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters), shot put and long jump were organized in which youths from Darhal and nearby villages took part and exhibited their talent.
On the concluding day, a dog show was also organised, which was the main attraction of the event.
Youth of various age groups of district Rajouri also showcased their hidden talent by presenting various cultural activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Iqbal Malik, Ex DC Rajouri expressed gratitude to the Army for organizing one of its kind cultural and sports Mela at Darhal for the holistic development of the youth of the region.
Shahbaj Malik, Sarpanch of village Darhal said that such activities being conducted by the Army will encourage youth to join forces and also help them in all fields.
