Moazzam lifts Kashmir Open 2020

SRINAGAR, Oct 25: Moazzam Rashid won both singles and doubles titles of Kashmir Open 2020-a Tennis tournament played at Gindun Tennis Courts, here.
In the singles final, Moazzam Rashid defeated Inayat Jehangir in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 whereas in partnering with Haider Hussain, Moazzam overcame stiff fight from Sajad Ahmad and Rouf Ahmad to take home the title, by 6-3 and 6-4 sets.
The tournament was played over three days wherein more than 40 players participated in both singles and doubles categories.
“This is just a beginning and we would like to hold the event annually so that the game is popularised at grassroots level,” Mohammad Yousuf, the co-organiser of the event said.
Noted sports commentator and broadcast journalist Syed Humayun Qaiser gave away the prizes.
Qaiser said he was impressed by the enthusiasm of the players and hoped that more and more youngsters will take up the game to make a name at national and international levels. He also appreciated the efforts of Tennis Kashmir in organising the event.
